Before Your Dermal Filler Treatment
Proper preparation helps minimize bruising and ensures optimal results:
1 Week Before Treatment:
• Discontinue blood-thinning medications and supplements: aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, vitamin E, fish oil, omega-3 fatty acids, ginkgo biloba, garlic supplements, and St. John's Wort (unless medically necessary).
• Stop using topical retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin, Differin) on treatment areas.
• Avoid dental work for one week before and after treatment to reduce infection risk.
3 Days Before Treatment:
• Consider starting arnica tablets or gel to help reduce bruising (available over the counter).
• Avoid scheduling facials, waxing, or other aggressive facial treatments.
24 Hours Before Treatment:
• Abstain from alcohol consumption.
• Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning.
Day of Treatment:
• Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup.
• Eat a meal beforehand to prevent lightheadedness.
• Take acetaminophen (Tylenol) 30 minutes before if you are concerned about discomfort.
Important: Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores (prophylactic antiviral medication may be recommended), are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any active skin infections.
General Care Guidelines

- Keep the treated area clean and dry
- Follow medication instructions exactly as prescribed
- Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments
- Contact us immediately if you notice unusual symptoms
Don'ts
- Pick at or scratch the treated area
- Expose treated area to direct sunlight without protection
- Use harsh skincare products or exfoliants
- Skip or delay your follow-up appointments
